​Seaweed turned into green gas- Malmberg delivers biogas upgrading plant in Copenhagen

Malmberg will deliver new biogas upgrading for Solröd plant by Bigadan outside Copenhagen

The new Malmberg biogas upgrading plant in Solröd outside Copenhagen will have a great capacity of 2800 Nm3/h biogas turned into green biomethane. The produced gas will be injected to the natural gas grid and the plant will be in operation in October 2019.

The biomass consists partially of seaweed from the Bay of Køge and Solrød Beach. Not only it will be turned into fossil free energy it will also improve the quality of the bathing water in the bay. The plant is the first of its kind in Denmark to produce green energy out of seaweed.

Malmberg’s client for the project is Bigadan, a Danish biogas developer and operator of several biogas sites around the world. Other Malmberg upgrading plants for Bigadan is in Horsens and by Limfjorden in Denmark.

Malmberg has up to date delivered more than 110 biogas upgrading plants in Europe and China with the reliable water wash technology Malmberg Compact™. The new Bigadan plant in Copenhagen/Solröd will be Malmberg Danish plant number 14.

About Bigadan
Bigadan is a privately owned company providing consultancy and construction-related services to large scale biogas plants. Since 2001 they are also engaged as developer, owner and operator of biogas plants. They operate internationally and are known for their experience and know-how gained through their long-term involvement in the biogas sector.

Solrød Biogas A/S is established in close cooperation with CP Kelco, VEKS, Chr. Hansen, Roskilde University, Bigadan and the agricultural sector.
